As avocado consumption in the U.S. continues to rise, imports of Mexican Hass avocados make significant contributions to both the U.S. and Mexican economies, according to the latest economic analysis conducted by Texas A&M University during the 2023-2024 growing season. In 2023 and 2024, 2.48 billion pounds of avocados were supplied to the U.S. from Mexico. This achievement is due to the efforts of more than 35,000 growers, 200 importers, and over 90 packers. Considering that the majority of growers are small-scale farmers with an average farm size of three acres, their ability to produce such a substantial output is even more remarkable.
